Fractional HR Services in BC

Fractional HR means hiring a senior HR professional for a fraction of their time: a set number of hours each month instead of a full-time salary. Your business gets the judgment and experience of an HR leader. You pay for the portion you actually use.

When fractional HR makes sense

Most small and mid-sized businesses sit in the same gap: too many people issues to wing it, not enough to justify a full-time HR hire. Fractional HR is built for that gap.

It tends to fit when:

What it looks like with Senterra HR

You get a dedicated senior consultant, the same person every time, available for whatever the month brings. That might be a termination handled properly, a contract reviewed before someone signs it, a bullying and harassment complaint handled through a proper, documented process, coaching a manager through a difficult conversation, or a policy your business is missing.

Two retainer levels:

HR On Demand Essentials: $500/month CAD. Up to 4 hours per month. For businesses that need occasional questions answered and small tasks handled.

HR On Demand Partner: $800/month CAD. Up to 8 hours per month. For businesses navigating change or more complex people challenges.

Both include priority response, hours you can use for whatever you need that month, and no long-term commitment. If your needs change, you cancel. The relationship should work for your business, not lock you in.

Fractional HR compared to the alternatives

Versus a full-time HR hire: a full-time HR manager in BC is a significant salary plus benefits, and most small businesses can't fill their week. Fractional support delivers senior-level advice at a fraction of that cost. AI is shrinking HR's admin workload too, which makes the full-time case even thinner. What you actually need on call is judgment.

Versus HR software and templates: software gives you documents. It can't assess a complaint, judge a termination risk, or coach a manager. Fractional HR gives you judgment, applied to your specific situation, grounded in BC employment law.

Versus doing nothing: the expensive HR problems usually trace back to decisions made without advice: an unenforceable contract, a mishandled dismissal, an ignored complaint.
